5 things you should see in Stockholm

Stockholm is the capital of Sweden. It is located on an archipelago of islands and peninsulas, so for this reason it is called the “Venice of the North”, like other cities such as St Petersburg, Amsterdam or Copenhaguen. If you choose the Swedish city as a destination for your holidays, take note of these things that you cannot miss.

Gamla Stan is Stockholm old town. This island was the first settlement and from here, the city began to grow. This is an area of cobbled streets and classic and colorful buildings. Just stroll through its streets will transport you to another age.

There is only one ship in the world built in the 17th century that has lasted almost entirely to this days: the Vasa. 98% of its structure is original and the curious thing is that the ship, built for war, with its crew and cannons, sank shortly after setting sail from port. In the 50s the wreck was located and some later returned to the surface.

Today the ship is exhibited in the museum, located on the island of Djurgården, which was built for that purpose alone. It is one of the most visited museums in the world and you should visit it on your visit to Stockholm.
