Two strange coins with Pablo Picasso as their main theme
We know a lot about Pablo Picasso, his life and his work. But there is not much relationship between the artist and currencies… or there is?
You will be surprised to know that there are limited edition euro coins related to the artist and, even there is not much information available about them, we are going to share with you what we could find out about this amazing discovery
Guernica Square Gold Coin
An square coin? Yes, but not only square, but also made out of gold and with a 50-euro value. Thats the face value, but the real value of this coin is much much higher. We could not find out much about this coin, just that it was made on France, there are around 1.500 of them and that it has its own silver version with a face value of 10 euros.
On one side we can see the Guernica painting, one of the most famous of Picasso´s painting if not the most. On the other side we can see a mix of some famous French museums. The really strange square gold coin can be bought online for around 1000 euros.
Pablo Picasso in the Twenty-first Century
Another curious coin is the silver 10-euro coin with the portrait of Pablo Picasso in the Twenty-first Century in one of the sides. This coin is part of a collection issued in Spain the work of another of the greatest Spanish artist, Salvador Dalí.
In this case, this coin is not as strange or valuable as the previous one, but still more valuable than the face value of 10 euros, it can be found online for around 50 euros.
At Eurochange we decided to keep involving Pablo Picasso with currencies, in our case by opening a new office next to his former house in Malaga. Soon, really soon, we will be opening our latest office located at the Merced Square just a few meters away from Pablo Picasso´s house.
