Happy New Years

Is not a typo, we really meant to say Happy New Years and we will show you why in the next lines. We are so used to celebrate New Years on January 1st, but some of you from other parts of the world will disagree with us about that date.

There are more than 20 different New Years around the globe, and we decided to take a look at some of those new years’ celebrations. Let’s go.

Gregorian Calendar

The most known new year, as we said in the intro, is the one that falls into January 1st. Is the one that corresponds to the Gregorian Calendar and is called like that because it was the pope Gregory XIII who promote that initiative on 1582 in Europe. As many other traditions, the calendar was exported from Europe to the rest of the world and that is why many countries use that calendar and celebrate new years on January 1st.

Chinese New Year

Probably the most famous new years after the one we just talked about. One curiosity about this celebration is that doesn’t fall on the same day every year. The Chinese New Year is celebrated during the first new moon after the winter solstice, so usually falls in January or February. Some other curiosities are that lasts more than a week and each year is dedicated to one of the 12 animals from the Chinese zodiac.

Islamic New Year

Different to the Gregorian calendar, the Islamic calendar only 354 days so, as the Chinese New Year, the Islamic New Year falls under a different day each year if we look at it from the Gregorian calendar. The celebrations start on the sunset the before the first day of the Islamic year but is not the kind of celebration we are used to. The Muharram, as it´s called, is more an introspect celebration with family, prays and meditation.  

Jewish New Year

If we look at the dates from an occidental calendar point of view, this is another new year that is not fixed on the calendar. The Jewish New Year is based on the phases of the moon, and usually falls in autumn during the months of September or October according to the occidental calendar. Kinda similar to the Islamic New Year, starts on the eve of the new year, followed by the Yom Kippur (Day of Reconciliation). On the night of the Rosh Hashaná, that is how is called, people eat sweet fruits to start a new year with a sweet taste.

Happy Holidays

One more year we are here, it seems like yesterday when we were wishing you all to have happy holidays and a great 2023. But 2023 it´s almost gone but we still here to say it again: Happy holidays. 

It may sound like a cliche, but I can promise you is not: we think of all of you Eurochangers as a part of our family. Every family it is different, but all of them have something in common: each member is as important as the next one and has a vital purpose inside the family environment. For us at Eurochange you are not just a client that comes and goes, you are part of our family, without you we would never come as far as we did.

At the same time, for many of you, this season is a time of reunion. Coming back to the loved one that may live far away, and we only get to see during these holidays. And we are happy to be able to help you with your currency needs to travel back home or to visit your loved ones overseas.

And for those of you that decide to take this time off work and visit the world, we are also here for you. Maybe you live somewhere cold and want to travel to the other part of the world where is summer. Or maybe you want to go to a place where these holidays celebrations are famous. Why Cash?

Reasons for using cash

Nowadays we are used to the so called “plastic money,” but as you all know we mainly deal with cash at Eurochange. And even many people could think that cash is dying we are going to see some reasons why to use cash instead of credit or debit cards.

 

Safety

 

Despite many people thinks that cash is less safe than credit the reality its quite de opposite. Studies show that most robberies and scams are made with credit cards or online banking. Also, even if you lose or get your cash stolen, it is just the amount you carry the money that is “at risk”. On the other hand, all your savings can be at risk if you get your bank app cloned or your phone stolen with your passwords saved.

 

Opportunities

 

Cash it is the most accepted currency in the world. We know cash is not a currency, but you get when we mean. Some countries are trying to get raid of the cash, but even in those countries cash is accepted. But also, there are other countries or places where they do not have the infrastructures or the technology to accept credit cards. And one small detail, you can do any transaction in cash no matter when and where, but you need electricity and internet to be able to pay with your credit card. Seems not important, but it is.

Sometimes we think of privacy to the ability to do something wrong without anyone knowing, but that’s not it. Many people value their privacy just because they want to have it. We see everyday with the phone apps that you must allow them to track you. All that it is because privacy it’s a valuable thing. With cash, you have 100% privacy. Nobody tracks you; you can buy anything you want without anyone knowing what you decide to spend your money with. Also, you are outside the grind, which it means, no targeted advertisement or being part of studies.

With cash we control what we spend, we can not spend more than we have, while with credit cards all your savings are available to be spend. Impulsive purchases are mostly done with credit cards, by the time you go back and check your account it is when you realize how much you spent. In the meantime, by using cash you know how much you have left at any moment.

This one refers mostly to currency exchange which is what Eurochange does. People are used to pay with their bank cards all over the world with different currencies, while your bank account has your own currency. While most businesses accept overseas cards, the exchange rate at the moment of the purchase is the one you bank provides. So, you don’t really know how much you are paying or if you are getting overcharge for something unless you start doing math, and even then, most times is too late. If you exchange your cash to the currency of the country you are visiting you know exactly how much you changes and how much things cost, therefore you can decide whether to buy something or not having all the information.

We will keep growing on the incoming 2023 because we want to give you the best service and reach each and every one of you close to your homes. 
But one thing we have in our mind and will not change. We can grow but we will maintain the same company culture. We will give you the best service, a close one, a familiar one, we want you to feel like home when you come to our offices to exchange your currencies into euros.

The season begins in Mundomar!

The Mundomar animal park, in Benidorm, opened its doors last March 18th, beginning the 2017 season.

Mundomar is a park where you will find fun for the whole family. During your tour, you can see various terrestrial and marine animals in very realistic reproductions of their natural habitats: dolphins, otters, lemurs, toucans and many more. In addition, every day you can enjoy shows with dolphins, sea lions and parrots where you may pass from being a mere spectator to being part of the show.

The winner of the raffle came to collect her prize to Eurochange Torrevieja

What is Umbrella Parking?

It is a closed and video surveillanced parking with the necessary licenses, next to the airport of El Altet (Alicante).

In Umbrella Parking you can leave your car parked outside, covered shelter or in an interior space with at an very economical tariff. So you only have to worry about enjoying your trip knowing that you can leave your car or caravan in good hands. In addition, in Umbrella Parking you don't have to leave your keys, you can park your car and take them with you.

Once your vehicle is parked, the Umbrella Parking staff will take you to the airport in one of their vans. And do not worry about the schedule, because it is open 24 hours every day of the year.

You also have the possibility of additional services for your car such as maintenance, passing the ITV, etc. Ask for information without obligation.

On the Umbrella Parking website you can check out the prices depending on your type of vehicle and the type of parking you choose. Whether you're going to be out a couple of days if you're going to be away a long time, you'll find an economical choice that fits your travel plan.

If you are someone who spends time in Spain and seasons in another country, you can opt for an annual fee. This fee includes parking and several airport transfers.

New collaborator to the list of companies joining Club Eurochange.

During the month of November we have added a new collaborator to the list of companies joining Club Eurochange.

This time it is Beniconnect offering a 5% discount on their Shuttle Express Connect service.

This service is exclusive to the company that involves traveling to and from Alicante Airport. This is a service that keeps tourists from losing their time in unnecessary delays and reducing the waiting time at the airport and the number of stops per trip.

The Shuttle Express Connect is available daily, including weekends. The maximum waiting time at the airport on arrival is 30 minutes and the trip will make no more than 4/6 stops.

From November 1st to March 31st the service is available for flights between 9:00 am and 9:30 pm. From April 1st to October 31st the schedule is extended to be available from 9:00 to 23: 59h.

The stops are available at:

– Benidorm, El Albir, Cala de Finestrat and Villajoyosa (Shuttle Express Connect 4) – Altea, Alfaz del Pi, La Nucia and Polop (Shuttle Express Connect 6)
