Traveling from the UK to Spain? How to Get the Best Sterling to Euro Rate

Planning a well-deserved holiday on the sunny shores of Spain is always a source of excitement. However, recent fluctuations and the downward trend of the sterling to euro (or pounds to euro) exchange rate can cast a shadow of uncertainty over your travel budget. It’s natural to wonder how to make your pounds stretch as far as possible so you can fully enjoy the gastronomy, leisure, and culture that Spain has to offer. The good news is that with smart planning and by choosing the right currency exchange service, you can mitigate the impact of these drops and secure exceptional value for your money. At Eurochange, we understand the concerns of the British tourist and have specialized in being your best financial ally in Spain. Forget about the exorbitant rates at airports and the uncertainty of not knowing where to exchange your money. We offer a transparent, competitive, and conveniently located service in the heart of your favorite holiday destinations. Read on and discover how to turn exchange rate worries into the peace of mind that comes from knowing you are getting the maximum value for every pound.

Maximizing Your Budget: Tips for the British Tourist

With the current pounds to euro exchange rate situation, optimizing your budget is key. Here are some practical tips:

  • Plan Ahead: Don’t leave your currency exchange to the last minute. Monitor the exchange rate before your trip and take advantage of moments when the pound strengthens, even if slightly.

  • Set a Daily Budget: Having a clear idea of your daily expenses will help you control your finances and avoid unpleasant surprises.

  • Avoid Airport Exchanges: Currency exchange kiosks at airports usually offer the least favorable rates. It is much more cost-effective to exchange your money once you are in Spain, at a trusted exchange office like Eurochange.

The Dollar is Low: Travel Now and Save on Your Vacation!

Have you been dreaming of a big trip? This is the sign you’ve been waiting for! The US dollar has dropped, which means your travel budget can stretch much further in some of the world’s most spectacular destinations. At Eurochange, we want you to make the most of this opportunity. That’s why we’ve put together a complete guide to the best countries to visit right now and practical tips to get the most out of your euros.

Savings Comparison: How Much More Can You Spend?

To give you an idea, with a favorable exchange rate, for every €1,000 you exchange, you could get a significantly larger amount of dollars than a few months ago. This translates into:

  • In the U.S.: An extra night at a hotel, a ticket to that Broadway musical you’ve been dying to see, or one more day of car rental to drive Route 66.

  • In Mexico or Panama: Upgrading your resort room, splurging on luxury dinners, or booking that private tour that seemed out of reach.

✈️ Top 5 Destinations Where the Dollar Goes Further This Summer

  • United States (🇺🇸): The classic destination that never disappoints. With a more affordable dollar, it’s the perfect time for that dream summer trip. Think of the lights of New York, the beaches of Miami, the national parks of California, or the fun of Las Vegas. Ideal for shopping for tech and brand-name clothing, renting a car, and driving its iconic highways.

  • Mexico (🇲🇽): Although its currency is the Mexican peso, its economy is closely tied to the dollar. A weak dollar against the euro benefits you indirectly. Enjoy the Riviera Maya, Cancún, or Tulum with their all-inclusive resorts, excursions to Mayan ruins, and a cuisine that will make you fall in love.

  • Ecuador (🇪🇨): This South American country adopted the dollar as its official currency, so the benefit is direct. Discover nature that is unique in the world: the Galápagos Islands, the majesty of the Andes, or the vastness of the Amazon await you.

  • Panama (🇵🇦): Another destination that officially uses the dollar. Panama is the perfect combination of a cosmopolitan city, lush nature, and a shopping paradise. Don’t miss its famous canal and the colonial charm of its Casco Viejo.

  • The Caribbean (🇧🇸🇧🇲🇰🇾🇻🇮): Destinations like the Bahamas, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, or the Virgin Islands have their currencies pegged to the dollar or use it directly. They are synonymous with luxury, relaxation, white sandy beaches, and a perfect climate to disconnect.

💡 Practical Tips to Take Advantage of the Exchange Rate from Spain

Before you pack your bags, smart money planning is key to real savings.

✅ 1. Buy Dollars Now at Eurochange Don’t wait until the last minute. If the dollar goes back up, you’ll regret not exchanging your money when the price was lower. At Eurochange, we guarantee the best exchange rate with no hidden fees.

✅ 2. Cash and the Travel The smart strategy is to diversify. Carry a portion of your budget in cash for small expenses, tips, or purchases at local markets.

✅ 3. Avoid Exchanging Currency at the Airport This is the most common and most expensive mistake. Exchange counters at airports apply much less favorable exchange rates and high fees. Plan ahead and exchange your currency at Eurochange before you travel to ensure maximum savings.

Don’t let this opportunity pass you by. The world is waiting, and now, your money takes you further!

King Charles III Sterling pound Banknotes

King Charles III Sterling pound Banknotes

The date is already set on June 5th the new British pound banknotes featuring King Charles III will be released. That may see like a regular even but with the release many questions come to people mind. We are going to try to answer them for you.

What will happen to the actual polymer Banknotes featuring Queen Elizabeth?

Don’t worry, all the actual polymer notes featuring King Elizabeth will remain legal tender, you will have no problem to pay with them or exchange them at any business. So, in case you would like to exchange British pounds into euros it wont matter if your pounds are the old version or the new one, both will have the same value.

Why and how will both versions coexist?

This happened before many times in history and with many currencies but maybe this case is different. Usually, one note replaces the old one but, on this case, let us start telling you that as right now, the Bank of England will only issue the new version featuring King Charles III to replace damaged or really old notes. So is not like they are replacing every note they have, just those that need to be reprinted.

Also, both currencies are legal tender so they will coexist until the old notes go out of circulation, for that even is not even a date set, so won’t be a problem for a while.

Do they have the same value?

Of course, both polymer notes have the same value to pay or to be exchanged. For many months the UK is being preparing for this event. Most ATM machines already have new updates to be able to handle both versions. Companies have been updating their systems in order to detect and accept this new version on automatic machines as could be vending machines. Everything is set for this release.

What about exchanging British pounds in Spain?

As you already know, and this post is another proof, at Eurochange we are up with the times and aware of all currents event involving currencies. This means that all our offices are informed of the latest currency news. All your British pounds will be welcomed if you want to exchange pounds to euro, no matter if they are featuring Queen Elizabeth or King Charles III.

And one more thing… At Eurochange we even exchange the old sterling pound paper notes. So don’t hesitate to come visit us at any of our many locations or contact us thru our customer service.

Felices Fiestas

December´s long weekend

December´s long Holliday Weekend

This week we are having one of the most expected days for everyone in Spain, we are talking about the Holliday weekend that goes from December 6th until December 10th , which is called December´s long weekend. This is what we call in bridge. But why is it called a bridge? And which holidays include? What to do during these days? Well let’s explain all this.

Why is a bridge?

In Spain we call a bridge to what is known in English as a long weekend. That usually means that a holiday falls into a Monday or a Friday. But in Spain is also called when a holiday falls into Tuesday or Thursday, since many people take the day off in the middle to enjoy a much longer weekend. That is where the term Bridge comes from, because is like we build a bridge between the 2 holidays taking that extra day off.

Which days are actually a holiday in this December´s long weekend?

In this case the 2 holidays are the 6th and the 8th of December. This year those 2 holidays are on a Wednesday and a Friday, which allowed many people to take Thursday off and enjoy a 5 days weekend.

December 6th is the day of the Spanish Constitution. In Spain we celebrate the constitution, which is the document where all Spanish rights and obligations are written.  On December 6th, 1978, the Spanish citizens voted in favor of this document, and that is why is celebrated on this date.

December 8th is the day of the Immaculate Concepcion. This is a religious holiday that celebrates the birth of the Virgin Mary, mother of Christ. An many holidays, this one has its origins on the Christian religion.

Those 2 holidays are considered unmovable, which means that doesn’t matter on which day of the week they fall, that’s the day the holiday will take place.

What to do in Spain during this long weekend?

Well, there isn’t enough entries in this blog to show you how much Spain has to offer during this weekend. But what I can tell you is what Spanish families do. Is it common in Spain to spend these holidays decorating the houses for Christmas. Also, most cities already have the Christmas decorations up. There are plenty Christmas markets in a lot of Spanish cities which are full of Christmas food, decorations and other things celebrating the magic of Christmas.

And what Eurochange has to do with all of this?

Long weekends are always a perfect excuse to travel. Many Spanish people used this one to travel all over the world and many of them used Eurochange to exchange their euros into foreign currencies. At the same time, many people for overseas know of the existence of this long weekend in Spain (as most of you know) and they feel like a perfect opportunity to visit our county. For those, Eurochange gives them the chance to exchange dollars or exchange pound or exchange any foreign currency into euros at any of our offices around Spain. So, if you are in Spain enjoying this long weekend or you return from it, make sure you come to Eurochange for all your currencies ‘needs.

Traditional Fiestas del Pilar

Fiestas del Pilar in Zaragoza

This year, like every year, Las Fiestas del Pilar will take place in Zaragoza. These traditional celebrations have its origins on the Christian tradition, as many celebrations in Spain. Let’s see what Zaragoza has to offer and when this tradition comes from.

It is believed that St. James the Apostol arrived at Zaragoza in order to spread Christianity. Once there, the Virgin Mary made an appearance in a marble pillar, from which the Christian Church should be build, at that place, on that land. There is the where the name Virgen del Pilar comes from (literally means the virgin of the pillar). The temple was built right there and stays nowadays, it was not even finished till the 20th century, but it is one of the symbols of the city.

The date of the celebration was moved thru the calendar until it landed on October 12th, same day of the Spanish National Day. While Spain celebrates his day on the 12th, the celebrations in Zaragoza are all week long. This year celebrations will start on the 7th and will take place until the 15th.

And what to do during these celebrations? Let me tell you some events you can enjoy during this week. First of all, the whole week is full of parades, concerts, street festivals and other events you can enjoy just by walking around Zaragoza. One of those events, a really cool one, is the Giants and Bigheads Parade. As they are called in Spanish: Gigantes y Cabezudos. People dressing as giants or with fake huge heads will walk around the city to the enjoyment of the little ones, or not that little.

There are also two offerings to the Virgen del Pilar, the most famous being the flower offering on the 12th. A 9 meters mantle will be filled up with flowers brought by the neighbors of Zaragoza, and by the visitors who want to join the celebration. A really spectacular picture to see the Virgin with thar beautiful flower mantle build by everyone who wants to collaborate. On the 13th, the next day, there is a food offering. More than 6 tons of food will be brought to the Church from Zaragoza and from all over the world. That food will be donated to those in need.

These festivities bring to Zaragoza not just people from every Spanish corner, but also from all over the world. Zaragoza it is one of the most important cities in Spain and that is why Eurochange had to be there. We have an office for you to exchange your currencies into euros. Sterling to Euro? Of course. Dollars to euros? Classic, yes! What about Australian or Canadian dollars to Euros? Yes, and yes. We could keep listing all the currencies we exchange into euros at our Zaragoza office, but you can also check them out online or come to our office and ask yourself. As always you will come for our amazing exchange rates, but you will come back for the best customer service out there.

And before I go, I want to give you a brief tease of what is coming soon. Soon you will be able to purchase your currencies online thru our website. Stay tuned for updates and to see when you will be able to purchase currencies online and have them delivered to you own home.

La Tomatina (The tomato´s battle)

The battle of the tomatoes at Buñol (Valencia)

What would you say if someone throws a tomato at you? And what would you say if thousands of people throws tomatoes at you and to each other? What about you throwing tomatoes all around? Well, if your answer to this question is not a laugh this article is not for you.

If you did not figure it out by now this article is about the "tomatina", which is hard to translate to English but mostly means tomatoes all around. This old tradition started not as a tradition in 1945 at Buñol, a town close to Valencia. A few youngsters started a battle, and they decided to use tomatoes to throw at each other instead of rocks, smart decision, and after they had more fun than rage the people of Buñol decided to do it year after year, and did not miss a single year since then.

August 30th is the date of this year's Tomatina but the tomatina day is not just the fight. The activities start early in the morning. The city of Buñol gives away pastries to everyone that comes to the town main square really early at 9 in the morning. People start coming, eating and trying to get a ham. Yes a ham. The city places a full ham on top a soaped pole to see if someone is able to reach it. While eating the first pastries of the day, people enjoy watching how one after another try to go up that pole and fail miserably.

And then 11 o´clock comes around, and then a gunshot is fired to the sky indicating the start of the battle of tomatoes. A single truck full of tomatoes makes his way into the city main square and the ones on the truck are the first ones to throw the first tomatoes from the top of the truck. Once the tucks are in the middle of the square it dumps the thousands of tomatoes that was carrying and people start collection their munition and start the battle.

In a few minutes the whole square turns red, not from blood, but from destroyed tomatoes. A few more trucks keep coming into the square and provide tomatoes to everyone that wants to stay in the battle. After a while, and when all the trucks have completed their mission, a second gunshot is fired. This second gunshot means that the battle is over. Time to get clean, and for that, the city provides hoes that spray everyone that wants to which cold and clean water to get cleaned out.

Sounds like a good party right? Buñol is probably not the most known city in Spain, other than for this tradition, but if we tell you that is close to Valencia probably that sounds more familiar. And we have an Eurochange office in Valencia for you to exchange your currencies into euros. If you like to change dollars for euros make sure you check our amazing rates. But not just the dollars, we have excellent rates for pound to euro as well as for many other currencies. So make sure you visit us in Valencia for your currency exchange. But one thing, please come before go to the tomatina of get clean out first, our offices are really clean, and our money agents will not want to get scared when someone comes into the office full of tomato sauce. Just kidding, even if you come straight from the tomatina we will provide you not just with the best exchange rates, but also with the best customer service.

Like every year thousands get together in Pamplona to celebrate the San Fer

Like every year, July 7th has a special meaning in Spain. Is the date when the San Fermines start. And maybe some of you don’t know what that is, but I think if I say running of the bulls everyone will catch up. Yeah, this old tradition from the north of Spain is back another year. Pamplona welcomes people from all over the world to enjoy these festivities.

Everyone has the image of the bulls running down the streets and hundreds if not thousands running in front of them. This year it will happen again. But like every tradition must have a start.
July 6th it’s the famous day of the Chupinazo, that’s how is call the firework that start the one-week Pamplona´s traditional celebrations. Thousands get together on the town´s square to just shout and sing together to Saint Fermin and to start the celebrations.

But this week is not just about the bulls. Every morning we have those runs but after the whole city of Pamplona celebrates together with concerts, meetings, and all kinds of activities for the whole family.

Malaga: UK most wanted

Acording to internet searches, Malaga is top 1 destination for the british

When you think about British tourist and Spain, our mind go straight to Benidorm or Mallorca, but there is a place with more tourism from the UK in Spain… Malaga

Based on internet searches, Malaga is the number 1 destination for the British tourist. Cities like Venetia or San Francisco are 2 and 3 on that ranking, and we are going to tell you why.

First of all, as always, the Spanish sun. Malaga is the capital of names Sun Coast (costa del sol). The weather is good all the year around and even during the winter the climate is one of the reasons this part of Spain is special.

Another important reason is the proximity, which is straightly related to number of flights and price. Flying from London to Malaga can be as cheap as a couple of pints, if you do your research, you can fly as cheap as 15 to 20 pounds. Also, there are plenty flights every day to choose from. And what about traveling time? Just 3 hours, it probably takes as much time as going from north to south London.

And finally, the places. Yeah, I mean places, because when you fly to Malaga you don’t need to stay in Malaga city. There are a lot beautiful towns around as Marbella, Fuengirola or Benalmadena. Each one with its own charm and with a lot to offer.

Maybe I’m bias, but personally, I think another reason the British come to Malaga it is because we have plenty Eurochange offices with amazing rates to exchange pounds to euros. If you are one of those visitors coming to Malaga this summer make sure you check our exchange offices in Malaga, Fuengirola, Benalmadena and Puerto Banus. We will give you an amazing exchange rate pound to euros, and we will give you the best customer service you can imagine. So remember us, Eurochange, to exchange pounds to euros or any other currency this summer.

The summer is magic as the song says, but also, the summer is here (song pending). And what do we think when we think about summer? Sun, Beach, Music, Drinks, Food etc. And where can we find all that and more in Spain? Valencia.

This weekend sounds like the perfect weekend to go to the valencian capital to the east of Spain. Anytime is good to go visit this marvelous city, but this weekend The Art´s Festival will take place.

The arts Festival, or festival de les arts in the native valencian language, is a time of celebration, but not just music. Located at the famous City of Art and Sciences, since 2015 this festival had some of the most important bands playing and a great cultural offer.

The initial idea for this festival was to bring together music and the rest of art disciplines during a really arty weekend. With time, this festival became one of the most important music festivals in the Spanish tour and each year it grows in order to bring this festival to the people.

This festival has three stages, and one of them is placed… above water! But as we said is not all about music. At the core of the festival, you can find a common space called the cultural zone, where there will be plenty demonstrations of urban arts, even skaters shows.

But is not all about party and arts, it’s a great time for the whole family and to show that there are children’s areas for the smallest ones on the family and even a relax area where people can chill laying down in amazing hammocks.

The festival brings people to Valencia from all around the world to enjoy this enchanted weekend, the good weather of the Spanish east coast, and it´s famous hospitality creates the perfect combo to bring all cultures together.

And yes, you thinking it right, we have a money exchange office in Valencia. If you are looking where to exchange you currencies in order to attend to the festival, or just if you bringing your foreign currencies and want to exchange them into euros to enjoy Valencia at the beginning of the summer, please come fin us. If you are looking for an exchange office, Eurochange is there, and in Valencia you can find us at Plaça de la Verge, 4.
