The new 5 Australian Dollars note has arrived
Since last September 1st a new note of 5 Australian Dollars is circulating.
New series
This is the first banknote that is emitted from the new series. The 5 banknote of Auatralian Dollars has entered into circulation this month and 10 Dollars note is expected to do it in 2017. Other denominations will be progressively issued.
At the moment the two series will coexist in circulation.
New design
The new Australian Dollar 5 note design keeps the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, but incorporates new elements. On the back, an image of the New Parliament Building with the courtyard and its mosaic. In the transparent strip that crosses the ticket from top to bottom, appear species of typical plants and birds of the country.
Security measures

Improvements for the visually impaired
The new banknote will include a new measure to help people with vision problems. This is an embossed mark and it is included by the first time in an Australian banknote. In addition, the above measures to improve the identification of the note still exist: bright colors, high contrast colors and sizes for each note.
