King Charles III Sterling pound Banknotes

King Charles III Sterling pound Banknotes

The date is already set on June 5th the new British pound banknotes featuring King Charles III will be released. That may see like a regular even but with the release many questions come to people mind. We are going to try to answer them for you.

What will happen to the actual polymer Banknotes featuring Queen Elizabeth?

Don’t worry, all the actual polymer notes featuring King Elizabeth will remain legal tender, you will have no problem to pay with them or exchange them at any business. So, in case you would like to exchange British pounds into euros it wont matter if your pounds are the old version or the new one, both will have the same value.

Why and how will both versions coexist?

This happened before many times in history and with many currencies but maybe this case is different. Usually, one note replaces the old one but, on this case, let us start telling you that as right now, the Bank of England will only issue the new version featuring King Charles III to replace damaged or really old notes. So is not like they are replacing every note they have, just those that need to be reprinted.

Also, both currencies are legal tender so they will coexist until the old notes go out of circulation, for that even is not even a date set, so won’t be a problem for a while.

Do they have the same value?

Of course, both polymer notes have the same value to pay or to be exchanged. For many months the UK is being preparing for this event. Most ATM machines already have new updates to be able to handle both versions. Companies have been updating their systems in order to detect and accept this new version on automatic machines as could be vending machines. Everything is set for this release.

What about exchanging British pounds in Spain?

As you already know, and this post is another proof, at Eurochange we are up with the times and aware of all currents event involving currencies. This means that all our offices are informed of the latest currency news. All your British pounds will be welcomed if you want to exchange pounds to euro, no matter if they are featuring Queen Elizabeth or King Charles III.

And one more thing… At Eurochange we even exchange the old sterling pound paper notes. So don’t hesitate to come visit us at any of our many locations or contact us thru our customer service.

Eurochangers, the summer is coming so stay tuned to the blog and our website to check what’s going on with Eurochange, currencies and other curiosities.

Quick cash solutions

Some of you will think of Eurochange as a bank, or as a shop, but we are way more than that. We are problem solvers and in todays post we are going to tell you why and how. We like to be the response to your currency problems, more precisely to your cash problems, we provide Quick Cash Solutions.

Currencies

We live in a globalize world. Nowadays you can use your phone anywhere you are in the world, you will get your emails, and the information flows like never before. But is not the same with cash. Sure, a lot of countries in Europe use the euro as their main currencies, but what about the rest? There are exactly 180 registered currencies in the world. From the euro or the dollar to the Fijian Dolar. So sometimes it is not easy to obtain the currency you will need.

At Eurochange we take a step further, we not only have most of the currencies in stock, but also if we do not have it, we will get it for you. Our Money Agents have the knowledge to advice you about your currency problems as well. If you do not know the currency of the country you traveling to, we can help you. If you do not know if you will be able to use cash, we can help you. If you do not know how much cash to take, we can help you. We are here to help you.

Currency exchange

Historically banks have been the currency providers to the regular customers, but this has change. Most banks do not want all the work that comes with obtaining a certain currency for a client, having to deposit that currency on their accounts and then give the cash to them. At the same time, if you bring back some cash, most banks will deposit the exchange in your account without giving you cash right back. As we said before in this post, Eruochange provides agile cash solutions.

We will give you cash either way. But not only cash. If you want to purchase a currency you don’t need to pay with cash, you can pay with debit or with credit card, and we will give you cash from the currency of your choice. At the same time, you can pay with cash and get cash. Again, Quick cash solutions.

Time

You must agree, what we do not have nowadays is time. We are so busy that even to plan a vacation we do not have time. Sounds ironic but it’s true. Exchanging currencies can be a stressful process and more If you do not have time or knowledge.

That is why at Eurochange we give you many ways to obtain your currencies. You can use the traditional way; you come to our office and buy or sell the currency you want. To make this option easier for you we have developed a network or offices
around Spain to be closer to you.

You can also reserve your currency at one of our offices, this way you will ensure 100% that your currency will be available at your arrival. Within 48 hours we will provide the currency of your choice at the office of your choice. And you can make the reservation by walking into an office, thru our website or contacting our customer service. I do not think it can be easier.

Well, maybe it can be easier. Now, with our online shop, you can purchase your currency online. From home, or work, or the park, you can purchase the currency you need. But again, we take it a step further, you can pick up the currency at any of our offices, or we can deliver the currency anywhere you want us to do.

So now you have no excuse to become an Eurochanger, we are here to solve your problems and happy to do so. So come to our offices, visit our website, or contact our customer service if what you need are quick cash solutions.

Estepona: Murals, Old Town, Marina, and … Eurochange

Estepona is a resort town of varied attractions along Costa Del Sol in southern Spain. It’s a place of year-round sunshine, and with 2 Blue Flag beaches, it’s no surprise that it attracts plenty of travelers looking to enjoy a winter sun holiday.

Murals

The urban art found all along Ruta de los Murales Artisticos has helped attract lots of travelers to Estepona in recent years. While the old town is notable for its whitewashed houses, potted plants, and ceramic tiles, a trip to the surrounding neighborhoods will also be richly rewarded with views of the ever-changing Estepona murals.

Old Town

A visit to Estepona Old Town will give you a feel of a typical Andalusian town. It’s easy to spend a couple of hours exploring charming whitewashed houses and winding alleyways. The locals proudly keep their streets clean, mostly traffic-free, and cheerfully decorated with geraniums, bringing more than a splash of color to the cobblestoned streets. It all makes for a very pleasant atmosphere while enjoying a stroll.

Eurochange Estepona

Right in the Old town we just opened a new Eurochange office. As always, we trying to offer you the best service the closest to you, so this month we opened this new office where you will be able to find all our services.

The Marina

Estepona Marina is a short walk from the Old Town and has plenty of attractions of its own, besides the 447 berths attracting seafarers from afar. Restaurants at Puerto Deportivo de Estepona serve some of the tastiest and freshest seafood in town. With the bars here staying open well into the wee hours, the area is very popular with locals and tourists. There’s a popular market offering plenty of local products and a fun atmosphere on Sundays.

Eurochange Estepona Marina

Don’t be surprised, we also just opened a new Eurochange office at Estepona´s Marina. You will be able to exchange all your currencies to euros as in the rest of Eurochange offices around Spain. Eurochangers… we are waiting for you!

Descubriendo: la costa de Levante

Is being a while since we did not have one of these entries on the blog, so we decided to come back in a big way. This week…. Discovering: The Levante Coast. We are going to take a walk in the East Coast of the Spanish Peninsula. The Levante Coast located in the east of Spain, from the northernmost point of the Valencian Community to Almería. This coastline is undoubtedly one of the areas that attracts the most British tourists from all over the country, thanks to the calm waters of the Mediterranean, its ideal climate, and its extensive beaches of golden sand. It also has many beautiful towns, natural parks, and cities full of culture and history. Are you looking for a romantic destination, a family vacation, or the ideal place for a trip with your best friends? The Levante Coast has it all. Here we leave you a list of the best places that you will never forget.

Valencia

This is a good week to talk about Valencia. Why? Because the Fallas are happening this week, the most popular celebration at the Turia Capital.
But not everything is the Fallas, Valencia has all kinds of cultural and leisure activities. You cannot miss its famous Cathedral or the City of Arts
and Sciences, a modern architectural and cultural complex that in 2007 was one of the winners of the 12 Treasures of Spain contest. The city has some huge urban beaches, we recommend Playa de la Patacona, which is not usually as busy as others in Valencia. 10 km south of the city you will find the Albufera Natural Park, a coastal lagoon where you can take boat trips and enjoy nature.
In Valencia you also have available oyr Eurochange Valencia exchange office, located in an unbeatable area, in the heart of Plaza de la Virgen, in the center of the city, where you can change your pounds into euros or any currency you need.

Alicante

Speaking about playing with fire we could not forget about Alicante and the Hogueras, but we Will have to wait some time for this celebration, but that’s no reason not to talk about Alicante. In June we Will be able to enjoy the Hogueras but until then Alicante has much to offer. After Valencia, the best-known city on the Levante coast is Alicante. It has much more than beaches, like museums and an old town full of life. You don’t have to choose between city or beach because Alicante has the best of both. In Alicante, on calle Castaños 6, you will find Eurochange Alicante, where you can change your currencies into euros or buy the currencies you need for your trip.

Murcia

Just a bit to the south we can find Murcia, as they say in there: what a beauty. A dreamy city where we can enjoy the best of the beach and the countryside. In the southernmost part of the Costa de Levante, we find Murcia, whose coastline is known as the Costa Cálida thanks to its warm waters and the sun that shines more than 3,000 hours a year. The salty lagoon of the Mar Menor has a destination in which to rest and enjoy the sea and water activities. The coast has numerous virgin spaces, beaches such as San Pedro del Pintar and Cartagena, and curious landscapes such as the erosion of Mazarrón. About 5 kilometers northwest of the university city of Murcia is the Castillo de Monteagudo, on an impressive rocky outcrop that rises 149 m above sea level. And of course Murcia is not less than Alicante or Valencia when talking about Eurochange offices, you will be able to visit us at the Avenida de la Constitucion, 9

If you have one of these pesetas you can be rich

Will you say you are rich if you have 100 pesetas (Spanish currency before the euro)? I’m telling you; you are not. 100 pesetas will be worth today around 0,60 euro. But the sentence changes if I would ask you: are you rich since you have a 100 pesetas gold coin from 1871? Then the answer it better be yes, or you don’t have what you have. We are going to take a look at some of the most valuable peseta coins we can find out there, make sure you check your pockets because if you have one of these peseta coins you can be rich.

The Peseta

Let´s start
introducing the currency we are talking about. Most of you probably already know about it since it was around since October 19th, 1868. By 2002 the peseta was history after 134 years being the Spanish currency. If you are under 25 and from Europe you probably only remember the euro, but there was a time when each country had their own currency, which was amazing and terrible at the same time. Exchange currency companies, like Eurochange, used to deal with many more currencies that we do today, and it was harder to travel thru Europe.
But times change and the peseta was replaced by the euro. You can find more info about the peseta here

1869-1870 5 pesetas coin

First of all, just a fun fact. The 5-peseta coin was known as the duro, in English means hard, tough, strong, you get the concept. The name was actually referring the previous Spanish coin the real, since it was made of silver it was heavy, so the name came from there.

Talking about the 1869-1870 5 pesetas coin it was one of the first minted. This beauty features the goddess Hispania on one side and “the Rock of Gibraltar” on the other. It is really strange to find one in perfect condition, but if you find it you can make between 20 and 45 thousand euros.

1869-1870 gold 100 pesetas coin

The most curious info about this coin is that only 12 coins were minted back in the days. If you check the date, you can figure out that it was one of the first peseta coins ever minted and, of course, the first 100 peseta coin created.

As in the 1869-1870 5 peseta coin, this coin features Hispania on one side, but on the other side we can see the monarchy coat of arms. It was made out of gold which makes it already valuable for the gold in it. But you can get a bit more if you have one of the 12 ever made, between 130 and 150 thousand euros, not bad.

1871 gold 100 pesetas coin

Can you guess how many were minted? 12, like the 1869-1869 gold 100 peseta coin. This coin was minted during the reign of Amadeo the first. He only reigned for 3 years, what makes this coin more valuable.

It is made of 32,25 grams of pure gold. And even only 12 were minted only 8 are known to exist nowadays. On one side we have Amadeo the fist obviously, and on the other the monarchy coat of arms. This coin is known for being sold on an auction for 146.000 euros, but its value can reach more than 160 thousand euros.

Eurochange

Well, sorry to tell you that at Eurochange we do not exchange coins of any currency, but if you have one of this please come to any of our offices and show it to us if you want to. But what we do is exchanging most of the notes from most of the
currencies of the world. So come to check our exchange rates and don’t be afraid to ask for help with anything, our Money Agents are there to help you Eurochangers

Barcelona: New Age Culture

Barcelona: New Age Culture

When we talk about Barcelona we think about nice weather, nice beaches, and an open touristic city. We also think about food and drinks and nightlife. And we also think about museums, iconic buildings, and culture. We are going to focus on that last word: culture, but new age culture.

New Age Culture

There is such a big cultural offer in Barcelona, but this week we want to focus on two particular events that are taking place at the city during March. Music and painting are the two disciplines we want to focus on. But we are not talking about Picasso or Dalí and their work, neither talking about Mozart or Beethoven. We are talking about New Age culture.

candlelight tributes

Yeah, candlelight tributes, musical tributes. This new experience is brought to you in Barcelona as a revolutionary idea that is being a triumph already. A string quartet, surrounded by lighted candles will play the songs we all know. In March they will have a tribute that we think we be amazing to attend. On March 3rd Queens Tribute. We get goosebumps only to imagine a string quartet playing “We are the champions” or “Bohemian Rapsody” by candlelight. You can also check the program here and get your tickets here.

Banksy Museum

Banksy is a controversial artist known all around the world. His work is as good as bold. After the stunning triumph of the Paris exhibit, Barcelona is the next city to offer Banksy´s art. More than 130 pieces will be at display for you to enjoy and who knows keep an eye open maybe Banksy visits himself and you will be the one that could finally discover his real identity. Check the museum´s website to book a tour.

Barcelona Sants

There is another amazing experience Barcelona has to offer in March. Just a few weeks ago Eurochange opened a new office. Barcelona Sants is our latest office opened next to you. And even is a new offer you will be able to have the same services we offer on all our offices around Spain. If you want to purchase some currencies you can come to our office, make your reservation online or even buy from home. And if what you would like to do is exchanging your foreign currencies into euros, you can sell your currencies to us, we have amazing rates and we buy most of the currencies in the world. And of course, we will provide the best customer service and exchange currency experience you can find out there. Eurochangerswe are waiting for you!

Córdoba: Crosses, patios and fences

Córdoba: crosses, patios and fences

Hello there again Eurochangers, this week we bring back something we already talked about but with a refreshing point of view. We are talking about Córdoba: crosses, patios, and fences. Many of you probably know that Córdoba is an Andalusian city, but you may be asking yourself: what is with crosses, patios, and fences? Let’s us explain it.

Córdoba

As mentioned, Córdoba (spain, since there is another Córdoba in Argentina) it is Andalusian city on the south of Spain. Funded by the Romans in the year 169 b.C. as a military settlement. The name means “city of the river” with a clear influence of the Guadalquivir River

But cordoba has a clear Muslim influence, during centuries the city was part of Al-Andalus. But his is not a history lesson, we mention this because all the traditions we are talking about today have one thing in common: the flowers. And this comes from the Muslims traditions as well.

Crosses

The crosses of May, during May Cordoba dresses up in flowers. Yes, flowers, because the crosses we are talking about are not naked crosses. More than 70 flowered crosses are planted all over Córdoba. The tradition does not stay there, there is the popular “going to crosses” which means going around town visiting all the crosses and having a drink and something to eat on the street stands that are all around town.

And we said
we were looking at this with a refreshing way, and this is because we want to tell you how to do things not just what to do. At Mylittleadventure you can find a gastronomic tour around the crosses of cordoba for just 30 euros. It´s 2
hours walking tour where you will enjoy the views and the food of this beautiful city. And of course, you will go by our Eurochange office places on #12 Deanes Street, where you could exchange all your currencies into euros.

Patios

Will you open your house to estrangers for them to see the flowers in your patio? Well in Córdoba that happens every may. But this is not just for fun, there is competition to be awarded with the best patio every year.

There are 4 different routes to visit all the patios, but you can watch them from home. The Cordoba city hall launched an app for you to enjoy the whole experience, but we can tell you is not the same as in person. You can check all about it at their YouTube channel or downloading the app

Fences

More flowers are involved in this tradition as well. We are not talking about a garden fence obviously, the right translation probably will be window bar, but fences sound better. And it is just that, dressing up all the house fences with flowers to give the city even more color in May.

There is also a contest to find the best balcony or window decorated, who knows maybe this year we try to decorate our Cordoba office. You can check out some free tours here and come check it out at #12 Deanes Street because im sure even if we don’t have flowers there, we have amazing exchange rates and the best Money Agent to help you in all your currency needs.

Banknote of the year

Banknote of the year

Beauty is on the eye of the beholder, but when it comes to banknotes there is more than the eye catches. And by this we want to express that the criteria to select the banknote of the year is not just based on how the note looks, its also about its features. But… who choses the banknote of the year?

IBNS

The International Bank Note Society exists since 1961, and it is a non-profit educational organization. The main purpose of the IBNS it is to promote the study and knowledge of banknotes around the world, focusing on the educational part about how banknotes are manufactured, their history and the science behind them.

Award Banknote of the year

Banknote of the year is an award given by the IBNS each year. Notes are submitted to consideration during the whole year up to January 31st of the upcoming year. To be eligible to win the notes must have artistic merit and/or innovative security measures and most importantly, need to be in general circulation

2022 winner: 1000 PHP Banknote

The nominations for 2023 just ended so we will have to wait to see which note is the last winner of this award, but in 2022 the 1000 Peso Note from the Philippines was the winner. This beautiful note features the endangered Philippines eagle on front, along with a holographic Sampaguita, Philippines’ national flower. The back remains as the previous 1000 note, featuring Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park. As we can see in the pictures it is a beautiful note full of security measures and made our polymer which makes it even more attractive.

If you want to purchase PHP, you can always buy them at Eurochange thru the website or making a reservation also on the website or thru our customer service.

2023 Nominees

There are many candidates for the 2023 award. Jamaica, Pakistan, Mauritania, or Kyrgyzstan is some of the nominees this year, the less regular ones, some of them you may never seen them in your life. BUt also there are other candidates like South Africa, Argentina, or Peru, more common. But we would like to focus on one that is from one of the most touristic places on earth: Egypt.

Egyptian 20 Pound Note

We can be bias since we are not on the jury of this award, but for us this one must be a winner. This 20-pound note is as beautiful as modern. In the front the Alabaster Mosque with some Arabic text. In the back an amazing image from
Ramesses II, Cleopatra, and the Great Pyramid. We hope for this one to win, but as we said we don’t have a saying in the matter.

And of course, you can get your Egyptian pounds at the Eurochange offices, or in our website, and stay tuned, since we throw some promotions here and there.

Cash around the world

Cash around the world

It seems like the tendency it is to go to a cashless world, but nothing further to reality. Even some countries are trying to get raid of cash, cash is needed. A few weeks ago we published an article about the benefits of cash but this week we are going to check some data about countries that rely on cash.

Cash vs Card

As we saw in the mentioned article there are many reasons why cash is needed or preferred. Freedom being one of the most important reasons for it. The cost of thigs is another reason. Security being another one. And finally, not being dependent on the internet will be some of the reason why cash is needed in today’s world

1

Countries

There is the list of countries that are more reliant on cash in the world. Morocco is the country on the world that is more dependent on cash, but at the same time is an interesting example. Since more than 80 percent of the country has access to internet the technology is not the issue here. But we can see that not many people have bank accounts. This develops a chain of circumstances that end up creating a cash society. If an establishment does not have a bank account, the customer can not pay in cash. The establishment will pay in cash to providers and so on.

Tust in Banks

In some countries, the trust in the banking sector is low, that is one of the reasons why the population prefers to keep their money in cash. We seen examples thru time of banking systems collapsing and customers losing all they had in their accounts. This is hard to believe to happen nowadays but some counties still not trusting the banks in their countries.

Geography

We can see in the list that there are countries for all around the world and this shows us an important fact: cash is necessary all around the world. If all the countries from the list would be in one particular part of the world, we could consider that is something from that part of the world. But the fact is that we can see on that list different countries with different peculiarities.

Europe

Europe is different. Since most of the countries use the Euros and most countries being part of the EU, is hard to point out which countries use more cash than other because the whole economic system force countries to work in a certain way. But as we can see in the list above, even within Europe there are countries that still using cash more than others. Obviously, most of them have their own currency, but there still some countries that using the euro have a huge cash reliance..

Eurochange

At Eurochange we accept most currencies from all over the world and this is why: if you use cash in your country, we will never put barriers for you to use cash in Spain. Our mission is to give you all solutions, and that is why you cash will be always welcome at Eurochange to be able to exchange it for euros.
