The Red Square

The Red Square is located in the center of Moscow. Since Ivan the Great destroyed the wooden houses that were located in this area to improve the protection of the Kremlin, the square has been used for various purposes: as a shooting field, as a market square, to hold public ceremonies and even concerts in the last years.

Around the Red Square you will find the GUM (a large department store created in Soviet times in which the world's leading brands are still sold, as well as restaurants and cinemas), St. Basil's Cathedral (an orthodox temple known almost everywhere as the emblem of the city), the State Museum of History (where important pieces of the history of the country are exposed from the prehistory to the XXth century), the Mausoleum of Lenin (where its mummified body and the tombs of Russian military and presidents are) and the Kremlin (composed of several buildings, cathedrals and other spaces where the government building stands out).

Some of the beautiful undergound stations in Moscow

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro is not just a quick way to get around the city, it is another tourist attraction. Some of its stations are spaces where you can enjoy paintings, mosaics and sculptures as if you were in a museum scattered throughout the city. Main entrance of Gorky Park in Moscow

The Gorky Park

This park is located on the banks of the Moldova River. It is a fairly large extension that in its beginnings was destined to the access to the entertainment and the culture of the working classes. A place to enjoy as a couple, with friends or family.

Building of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow

The Bolshoi Theater

It is one of the most important theaters in the world. Whether you like opera or ballet or you are not the biggest fan, we recommend you to buy an entrance and enjoy the show, the building, the decoration, … As it was remodeled in the early 2000s to give it back the splendor from the time of its construction. A way to transport you to the Russia of the nineteenth century.

What happens before Brexit?

The referéndum had a expected for ones and unexpected for others result

Last June 23rd British citizens went to the polls to decide about the future of their country. The referéndum had a expected for ones and unexpected for others result: they decided that the United Kingdom should go out of the European Union.

A bit less than the 52% of the citizens voted that their country shouldn’t be a member of the Union anymore.

And now British expats and tourists in Spain have a lot of questions about what’s going to happen now.

Now what?

Infographic - What happens after Brexit?

The only thing that we can absolutely affirm is that, by now, everything remains the same. The exit process will start from October 2016 onwards.

Tourists

We have receiced a lot of questions from british tourists asking about currency exchange and Custom rules. Now, we are going to answer them.

Currency exchange

From Brexit nothing has changed. In Eurochange we continue selling and buying currencies as usual. If you come on holidays, we are going to be able to accept your Pounds. Moreover, we will accept them in the future too as we exchange many currencies from EU and non-EU countries.

Custom rules

HM Custom rules are also the same. By now all British citizens still being able to bring the amount of tobacco they want for their own consumption.

Expats

If you are a British citizen living in Spain, don’t panic. By now your situation still the same. Your rights still the same: e.g. about having a home, renting a house, having a bank account, using the healtcare system,…

There is a bit of uncertainity about what is going to happen but there are lots of British citizens living in Spain. There is no doubt that both Governments will set treaties to minimize the adverse consequences for expats living here.

On the site of the European Union you can find your rights, liabilities and requirements to travel, work or live in any country of the EU. They will be valid until further notice: European Union

5 Tips to enjoy your summer holiday

Summer has arrived and we all start to fantasize, plan or organize

Summer has arrived and we all start to fantasize, plan or organize the final details of our holiday. For some it is the happiest time of year, but for others all the planning and organizing during these days is a real challenge and can leave you exhausted. We give you 5 tips for you to enjoy a relaxing holiday.

Family holidays

  1. Family holidays? Everyone should collaborate

A Family Holiday can turn into a real nightmare of organization if all the burden is on one person. So dont hesitate and make everyone participate. Prepare an envelope for each person so they can keep charge of putting everything essential in the envelope (identity card, passport, health card, driver’s licenses, boarding passes). Before leaving just check that everything is in order.

If you give a list to each person of what they have to put in their suitcase (3 pants, 2 swimsuits, sandals, phone charger) they can cross off what they’ve got and you can help them with what they are missing.

  1. Do not worry if you forget something

Today in almost any corner of the world you can find everything. If someone forgets a toothbrush, bathing suit or a adapter plugs, dont panic. Go to the nearest supermarket and buy what you have forgotten. If you’re worried about the extra expense that it may involve, you can plan a part of the holiday budget for emergency expenses. As a general rule, the essential things that you forget can be replaced for less than 40-50 Euros.

  1. Turn off the phone, at least for a few hours

A holiday is to relax, enjoy and unwind from the day. Some people during the rest of the year live attached to the phone and checking the mail every 10 minutes. Take advantage of your holiday days to disconnect from your mobile phone. If you can not stand being disconnected all day, turn it on for a while, check that the world remains the same and turn it off again. If you travel abroad and dont have an Internet connection, take it as an advantage and enjoy the destination as you would have done 15 years ago.

  1. Enjoy more and less photographing

We all love to come back from a holiday with a few souvenirs and pictures to give and show friends and family. But since the invention of digital cameras and mobile phones, photo fever has invaded us. How many times have you returned from a holiday with 700 photographs and then never looked at them again? Try it and try to do more with your own instead of seeing things through a screen. Limit the pictures you do every day will make you choose the truly important moments.

  1. Exchange your currency in advance

If the currency of your destination you´re traveling to is other than Euro, do not let the currency exchange become something to solve once you’re on Holiday. We recommend that you exchange your currency in advance to avoid having to worry about finding an exchange office, queuing or you getting a bad price for your holidays. Buy your currency now on our Eurochange web page and we  will give you the best price with the convenience of being able to receive them at your home in 24-72 hours.

We hope you enjoy the holiday and only have good things to tell when your back.

Advent: waiting for the baby Jesus

During the first weekend of Advent (20-30 days before Christmas) everywhere is decorated and set for the holidays. During these weeks it is very common to see Christmas markets where you can buy ornaments, sweets and other gastronomic varieties or handicrafts.
