A Journey Through Six Countries, One Common Currency

The CFA Franc (XAF) is the key that will open the doors to six incredible countries, each with a unique identity but united by a currency that will greatly facilitate your journey. Don’t let money management be an obstacle; plan ahead and make sure you carry enough cash to cover your expenses.

  • Cameroon: Known as “Africa in miniature,” this country will take your breath away with its diversity of landscapes. From the majestic Lobé Falls, which flow directly into the ocean, to the imposing Mount Cameroon, the highest peak in West Africa. Immerse yourself in the local culture in the bustling markets of Douala and discover the rich history of its ancient kingdoms.

  • Chad: For the more intrepid travelers, Chad offers an unparalleled experience. Explore the stunning Sahara Desert and the Ennedi rock formations, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Discover the vibrant wildlife in Zakouma National Park, home to one of the largest elephant populations in Africa.

  • Gabon: A paradise for nature lovers. Over 80% of its territory is covered by rainforest, home to gorillas, chimpanzees, and incredible biodiversity. Relax on the white sandy beaches of Loango National Park, where you can see elephants roaming the shoreline.

  • Equatorial Guinea: A unique destination that combines Spanish colonial heritage with African exuberance. Discover the colonial architecture of Malabo, on the island of Bioko, and venture to the mainland to explore the dense jungle and its impressive waterfalls.

  • Central African Republic: Despite its challenges, this country is home to incomparable natural treasures. The Dzanga-Sangha National Park is one of the best places in the world to see western lowland gorillas and forest elephants in their natural habitat.

  • Republic of the Congo: Not to be confused with its larger neighbor, the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This country offers an authentic and less crowded jungle experience. Cruise the majestic Congo River and discover the vibrant cultural and music scene of its capital, Brazzaville.

The Importance of Traveling with Cash

In many of these destinations, the infrastructure for card payments is limited, especially outside the major capitals. Relying solely on plastic can lead to complicated situations. Carrying CFA Francs in cash will allow you to:

  • Pay in local markets, restaurants, and for transport without any issues.

  • Have greater bargaining power when buying crafts and souvenirs.

  • Avoid high fees from international ATMs, if you can find them in working order.

  • Enjoy complete peace of mind, knowing you have access to your money at all times.

At Eurochange, we offer an online currency exchange service with home delivery or collection from our extensive network of over 50 branches in Spain. Take advantage of our large stock of CFA Francs and get ready for the adventure of a lifetime.

Embark on an Unforgettable Adventure: Your Complete Guide to Traveling to South Korea with the Best Exchange Rate for Euro to South Korean Won

From Seoul to Busan: The Ultimate Guide to Your South Korean Trip and How to Save on Currency Exchange

South Korea, a land where ancient tradition and cutting-edge modernity dance in perfect harmony, awaits to offer you an unparalleled travel experience. Imagine strolling through the majestic palaces of Seoul, witnesses to glorious dynasties, only to later immerse yourself in the vibrant rhythm of K-Pop that has conquered the world. Feel the thrill of looking out over the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), a place that tells a complex and fascinating story. Delight in the explosive flavors of its cuisine, from the popular kimchi to the delicious Korean barbecue. This country, which has emerged as a technological and cultural giant, invites you to explore its landscapes, from the bustling streets of Busan to the idyllic Jeju Island. Preparing for a trip of this magnitude requires attention to detail, and one of the most important is managing your money. To ensure your only worry is to enjoy, we reveal how to optimize your budget starting with currency exchange, a crucial step for a financially smooth adventure.

The Advantage of Planning Your Currency Exchange: Why Exchange Euros to Korean Won Outside the Airport

When planning your trip to South Korea, it’s essential to think about how you’ll manage your expenses. The local currency is the South Korean Won (KRW), and while cards are accepted in many places, cash is still indispensable for local markets, public transport, and small shops. Here’s why getting ahead and exchanging your euros for won with a specialized service like Eurochange is your best move.

  • Better Exchange Rates, Bigger Savings: Airports are notorious for offering less favorable exchange rates. Their convenience comes at a price: higher commissions and wider profit margins. By exchanging your money at one of Eurochange’s over 50 offices in Spain or through their online home delivery service, you secure a much more competitive exchange rate. This directly translates into more won for your euros, meaning more budget for treats and experiences in Korea.

  • Convenience and Security at Your Fingertips: Can you imagine landing at Incheon International Airport after a long flight and having to look for a currency exchange, compare rates, and wait in line? With Eurochange’s home delivery service, you can conveniently receive your Korean won at home before you leave. If you prefer personal service, their extensive network of offices allows you to stop by and carry out the transaction with the confidence and advice of experts. You start your trip with the peace of mind of having your money ready.

  • Avoid Hidden Fees and Surprises: Many exchange bureaus in airports and traditional banks apply additional commissions or fees that are not obvious at first glance. At Eurochange, transparency is key. You will know the final exchange rate from the very beginning, with no unpleasant surprises. This clarity allows you to plan your travel budget accurately.

  • Availability and Professional Advice: By using a specialized service, you not only get a good price but also the support of professionals. The Eurochange staff can advise you on the amount of cash you might need for the first few days, the most commonly used banknotes in South Korea, and any other questions you may have about the currency.

The Return Home: What to Do with Your Leftover Won?

Your Korean adventure comes to an end, and you’ll likely have some won left in your wallet. The temptation to exchange them at the airport before boarding is strong, but once again, it is the least profitable option.

  • Guaranteed Buy-Back at the Best Price: Eurochange offers you a buy-back service. Upon returning to Spain, you can visit any of their offices and exchange your leftover won back into euros. This way, you get your money back fairly, once again avoiding the unfavorable rates of airports and closing the loop of your trip in the smartest and most economical way possible.

The Euro is Getting a Makeover in 2026! Prepare for Your Global Travels: Why Cash is Still King and How Eurochange Makes it Easy for You

The European Central Bank (ECB) and the Bank of Spain bring exciting news about the future of our common currency: euro banknotes are being redesigned! With a theme selection process culminating in 2026, which has already involved the opinions of European citizens, the new designs are expected to reflect “European culture” or the beauty of “rivers and birds,” two highly popular finalist themes. This redesign not only aims to modernize the euro’s image but also to enhance its security and connection with citizens. While we await to see what these future banknotes, including the popular 20 euro note, will look like, this news reminds us of the importance of physical currency in our daily lives and, especially, when planning adventures beyond our borders. In an increasingly digital world, the debate about the demise of cash is recurrent, but the reality is that hard cash remains a fundamental pillar, particularly for travelers. Situations like poor internet connectivity in exotic destinations, failures in electronic payment systems, or even natural disasters can turn cash into your best ally. Therefore, at Eurochange, we want this euro renewal to inspire you not only to think about the future of the currency but also about preparing for your upcoming trips, ensuring you carry the peace of mind that only cash can offer, especially if your destination requires dollars or other currencies. And the best part? You can get it securely and conveniently from home!

  • Cash: Your Passport to Travel Peace of Mind:

    • Offline Freedom: In many popular tourist destinations, internet connection can be unstable or non-existent. Relying solely on cards or mobile payments can leave you in a bind. Cash always works!
    • Security in Unforeseen Events: What if there’s a widespread power outage or a failure in the payment systems of the country you’re visiting? Cash is your safety net to cover basic needs like food, transport, or accommodation in emergencies.
    • Full Control of Your Expenses: Paying with cash makes you more aware of how much you’re spending, helping you keep your travel budget in check without surprises on your bank statement upon return.
    • Universal (or Near-Universal) Acceptance: From local markets to small shops or tips, cash is widely accepted where cards often are not. This is especially true for hard currencies like the US dollar in many countries.
  • Dollars: The Essential Currency for the Global Traveler:

    • World Reference Currency: The US dollar is the most widely used currency in international transactions and is accepted (or easily exchangeable) in the vast majority of countries outside the Eurozone.
    • Stability and Trust: Carrying dollars provides you with a stable and globally recognized currency, facilitating your exchanges and purchases.
    • Ideal for Multiple Destinations: If your trip includes several countries outside Europe, having dollars will simplify your money management.
  • Eurochange: Your Best Ally to Get Cash Before Traveling:

    • Easy and Secure Online Purchase: Forget queues at banks or physical exchange offices. From the Eurochange website, you can buy your dollars (or any other currency you need) quickly, intuitively, and with all security guarantees.
    • Receive Your Currencies Comfortably at Home: We send your foreign currency order directly to your home with competitive delivery times and complete discretion and security. It couldn’t be more convenient!
    • The Best Rates, No Hidden Fees: At Eurochange, we strive to offer you very competitive exchange rates and full transparency in our prices. You’ll know exactly how much you’re going to receive.
    • Plan Ahead: Buying your cash online before traveling allows you to avoid the stress of looking for exchange offices upon arrival at your destination and potentially unfavorable rates at airports or tourist areas.

While the euro prepares for a new era with redesigned banknotes that we will see taking shape in 2026, your travel plans don’t have to wait. The importance of cash remains undeniable, offering you freedom, security, and control. At Eurochange, we are ready to help you prepare for your next adventure, providing you with the dollars or currency you need with the convenience and security of our online service and home delivery. Travel with the confidence of being prepared for any eventuality and make the most of every experience!

King Charles III Sterling pound Banknotes

King Charles III Sterling pound Banknotes

The date is already set on June 5th the new British pound banknotes featuring King Charles III will be released. That may see like a regular even but with the release many questions come to people mind. We are going to try to answer them for you.

What will happen to the actual polymer Banknotes featuring Queen Elizabeth?

Don’t worry, all the actual polymer notes featuring King Elizabeth will remain legal tender, you will have no problem to pay with them or exchange them at any business. So, in case you would like to exchange British pounds into euros it wont matter if your pounds are the old version or the new one, both will have the same value.

Why and how will both versions coexist?

This happened before many times in history and with many currencies but maybe this case is different. Usually, one note replaces the old one but, on this case, let us start telling you that as right now, the Bank of England will only issue the new version featuring King Charles III to replace damaged or really old notes. So is not like they are replacing every note they have, just those that need to be reprinted.

Also, both currencies are legal tender so they will coexist until the old notes go out of circulation, for that even is not even a date set, so won’t be a problem for a while.

Do they have the same value?

Of course, both polymer notes have the same value to pay or to be exchanged. For many months the UK is being preparing for this event. Most ATM machines already have new updates to be able to handle both versions. Companies have been updating their systems in order to detect and accept this new version on automatic machines as could be vending machines. Everything is set for this release.

What about exchanging British pounds in Spain?

As you already know, and this post is another proof, at Eurochange we are up with the times and aware of all currents event involving currencies. This means that all our offices are informed of the latest currency news. All your British pounds will be welcomed if you want to exchange pounds to euro, no matter if they are featuring Queen Elizabeth or King Charles III.

And one more thing… At Eurochange we even exchange the old sterling pound paper notes. So don’t hesitate to come visit us at any of our many locations or contact us thru our customer service.

Quick cash solutions

Some of you will think of Eurochange as a bank, or as a shop, but we are way more than that. We are problem solvers and in todays post we are going to tell you why and how. We like to be the response to your currency problems, more precisely to your cash problems, we provide Quick Cash Solutions.

Currencies

We live in a globalize world. Nowadays you can use your phone anywhere you are in the world, you will get your emails, and the information flows like never before. But is not the same with cash. Sure, a lot of countries in Europe use the euro as their main currencies, but what about the rest? There are exactly 180 registered currencies in the world. From the euro or the dollar to the Fijian Dolar. So sometimes it is not easy to obtain the currency you will need.

At Eurochange we take a step further, we not only have most of the currencies in stock, but also if we do not have it, we will get it for you. Our Money Agents have the knowledge to advice you about your currency problems as well. If you do not know the currency of the country you traveling to, we can help you. If you do not know if you will be able to use cash, we can help you. If you do not know how much cash to take, we can help you. We are here to help you.

Currency exchange

Historically banks have been the currency providers to the regular customers, but this has change. Most banks do not want all the work that comes with obtaining a certain currency for a client, having to deposit that currency on their accounts and then give the cash to them. At the same time, if you bring back some cash, most banks will deposit the exchange in your account without giving you cash right back. As we said before in this post, Eruochange provides agile cash solutions.

We will give you cash either way. But not only cash. If you want to purchase a currency you don’t need to pay with cash, you can pay with debit or with credit card, and we will give you cash from the currency of your choice. At the same time, you can pay with cash and get cash. Again, Quick cash solutions.

Time

You must agree, what we do not have nowadays is time. We are so busy that even to plan a vacation we do not have time. Sounds ironic but it’s true. Exchanging currencies can be a stressful process and more If you do not have time or knowledge.

That is why at Eurochange we give you many ways to obtain your currencies. You can use the traditional way; you come to our office and buy or sell the currency you want. To make this option easier for you we have developed a network or offices
around Spain to be closer to you.

You can also reserve your currency at one of our offices, this way you will ensure 100% that your currency will be available at your arrival. Within 48 hours we will provide the currency of your choice at the office of your choice. And you can make the reservation by walking into an office, thru our website or contacting our customer service. I do not think it can be easier.

Well, maybe it can be easier. Now, with our online shop, you can purchase your currency online. From home, or work, or the park, you can purchase the currency you need. But again, we take it a step further, you can pick up the currency at any of our offices, or we can deliver the currency anywhere you want us to do.

So now you have no excuse to become an Eurochanger, we are here to solve your problems and happy to do so. So come to our offices, visit our website, or contact our customer service if what you need are quick cash solutions.

If you have one of these pesetas you can be rich

Will you say you are rich if you have 100 pesetas (Spanish currency before the euro)? I’m telling you; you are not. 100 pesetas will be worth today around 0,60 euro. But the sentence changes if I would ask you: are you rich since you have a 100 pesetas gold coin from 1871? Then the answer it better be yes, or you don’t have what you have. We are going to take a look at some of the most valuable peseta coins we can find out there, make sure you check your pockets because if you have one of these peseta coins you can be rich.

The Peseta

Let´s start
introducing the currency we are talking about. Most of you probably already know about it since it was around since October 19th, 1868. By 2002 the peseta was history after 134 years being the Spanish currency. If you are under 25 and from Europe you probably only remember the euro, but there was a time when each country had their own currency, which was amazing and terrible at the same time. Exchange currency companies, like Eurochange, used to deal with many more currencies that we do today, and it was harder to travel thru Europe.
But times change and the peseta was replaced by the euro. You can find more info about the peseta here

1869-1870 5 pesetas coin

First of all, just a fun fact. The 5-peseta coin was known as the duro, in English means hard, tough, strong, you get the concept. The name was actually referring the previous Spanish coin the real, since it was made of silver it was heavy, so the name came from there.

Talking about the 1869-1870 5 pesetas coin it was one of the first minted. This beauty features the goddess Hispania on one side and “the Rock of Gibraltar” on the other. It is really strange to find one in perfect condition, but if you find it you can make between 20 and 45 thousand euros.

1869-1870 gold 100 pesetas coin

The most curious info about this coin is that only 12 coins were minted back in the days. If you check the date, you can figure out that it was one of the first peseta coins ever minted and, of course, the first 100 peseta coin created.

As in the 1869-1870 5 peseta coin, this coin features Hispania on one side, but on the other side we can see the monarchy coat of arms. It was made out of gold which makes it already valuable for the gold in it. But you can get a bit more if you have one of the 12 ever made, between 130 and 150 thousand euros, not bad.

1871 gold 100 pesetas coin

Can you guess how many were minted? 12, like the 1869-1869 gold 100 peseta coin. This coin was minted during the reign of Amadeo the first. He only reigned for 3 years, what makes this coin more valuable.

It is made of 32,25 grams of pure gold. And even only 12 were minted only 8 are known to exist nowadays. On one side we have Amadeo the fist obviously, and on the other the monarchy coat of arms. This coin is known for being sold on an auction for 146.000 euros, but its value can reach more than 160 thousand euros.

Eurochange

Well, sorry to tell you that at Eurochange we do not exchange coins of any currency, but if you have one of this please come to any of our offices and show it to us if you want to. But what we do is exchanging most of the notes from most of the
currencies of the world. So come to check our exchange rates and don’t be afraid to ask for help with anything, our Money Agents are there to help you Eurochangers

December´s long weekend

December´s long Holliday Weekend

This week we are having one of the most expected days for everyone in Spain, we are talking about the Holliday weekend that goes from December 6th until December 10th , which is called December´s long weekend. This is what we call in bridge. But why is it called a bridge? And which holidays include? What to do during these days? Well let’s explain all this.

Why is a bridge?

In Spain we call a bridge to what is known in English as a long weekend. That usually means that a holiday falls into a Monday or a Friday. But in Spain is also called when a holiday falls into Tuesday or Thursday, since many people take the day off in the middle to enjoy a much longer weekend. That is where the term Bridge comes from, because is like we build a bridge between the 2 holidays taking that extra day off.

Which days are actually a holiday in this December´s long weekend?

In this case the 2 holidays are the 6th and the 8th of December. This year those 2 holidays are on a Wednesday and a Friday, which allowed many people to take Thursday off and enjoy a 5 days weekend.

December 6th is the day of the Spanish Constitution. In Spain we celebrate the constitution, which is the document where all Spanish rights and obligations are written.  On December 6th, 1978, the Spanish citizens voted in favor of this document, and that is why is celebrated on this date.

December 8th is the day of the Immaculate Concepcion. This is a religious holiday that celebrates the birth of the Virgin Mary, mother of Christ. An many holidays, this one has its origins on the Christian religion.

Those 2 holidays are considered unmovable, which means that doesn’t matter on which day of the week they fall, that’s the day the holiday will take place.

What to do in Spain during this long weekend?

Well, there isn’t enough entries in this blog to show you how much Spain has to offer during this weekend. But what I can tell you is what Spanish families do. Is it common in Spain to spend these holidays decorating the houses for Christmas. Also, most cities already have the Christmas decorations up. There are plenty Christmas markets in a lot of Spanish cities which are full of Christmas food, decorations and other things celebrating the magic of Christmas.

And what Eurochange has to do with all of this?

Long weekends are always a perfect excuse to travel. Many Spanish people used this one to travel all over the world and many of them used Eurochange to exchange their euros into foreign currencies. At the same time, many people for overseas know of the existence of this long weekend in Spain (as most of you know) and they feel like a perfect opportunity to visit our county. For those, Eurochange gives them the chance to exchange dollars or exchange pound or exchange any foreign currency into euros at any of our offices around Spain. So, if you are in Spain enjoying this long weekend or you return from it, make sure you come to Eurochange for all your currencies ‘needs.
